RENTAL CREDIT is the total of all payments less the insurance portion, as detailed below. Our generous equity-building program enables our rental clients to purchase instruments with discounted pricing. Two years of rental credits may be applied, up to one-half of the purchase price. Unused rental credits remain active for one full year after the rental contract is terminated. Rental credits may be COMBINED in families with more than one rental contract. Credit cannot be used toward the purchase of rental-grade instruments, consignment instruments, bows, accessories, or repairs. Rental credit is forfeited if unpaid rental account goes into collection status. Sales tax is computed on the full value of the instrument at the time of sale, because no tax is levied on rental fees.
RENTAL INSURANCE covers reasonable wear and tear, including scratches, open seams, minor breakage, and any adjustments to the soundpost, bridge, or pegs. Insurance does not cover string replacement, bow rehairing, rosin, or accessories. If the instrument is lost or stolen, or if repair costs exceed the total value of the instrument, renter is responsible for the full price of the instrument.
RENTAL PERIOD are three months in length, and these quarterly contracts renew automatically. Rental payment is due on the first day of each rental period. We offer a five day grace period after the due date before the late charge of $5.00 is assessed. We do not prorate rental charges, which means that the renter is responsible for full payment of the upcoming rental period after the five-day grace period has expired.

The Care and Feeding of Your Rental Instrument
We are very happy that you are learning to play a stringed instrument, and that you have chosen to rent one from our shop. As with other household pets, your instrument will perform better for you if you follow these simple guidelines for its proper care:
PLEASE...
- Wipe the instrument with a clean, soft cloth when you are finished playing. This helps prevent rosin buildup that may inhibit the instrument's resonance.
- Don't place stickers, except fingering tape, on the instrument.
- Don't put adhesive foam on chinrests; a "Strad Pad" works just as well. If you must use adhesive, please remove it and clean the chinrest before returning the violin.
- Keep the instrument in a well-humidified room, if possible. Extremely dry air will cause the wood to crack.
- Don't leave the instrument unattended in you car. It could be roasted, frozen or stolen.
- Try not to touch the bow hair with you fingers.
- Don't tighten the bow overmuch; your teacher will show you how tight it needs to be.
- Loosen the bow when you're not playing with it.
- Wipe only the stick with a soft cloth before putting it away.
- Remember that, when using a soft cello case, the bow comes out first and goes in last.
Finally, if anything breaks or needs adjustment on your instrument, please bring it in as soon as possible. We will gladly fix it free of charge or give you another instrument; this is what the insurance portion of your bill covers.
Enjoy your instrument, and Happy Practicing!
