This remarkable double bass is believed to have originated in Venice during the late 18th century. It combines historical pedigree with exceptional tonal richness, depth, and projection, (with the most amazing open A string we’ve ever heard) — making it ideal for orchestral or solo performance.

Recently restored to a 4-string with C extension, the instrument has also undergone dendrochronological analysis supporting its age and origin, and is praised by top professionals for its musical quality.

This instrument was owned and played for many years by a principal bassist in one of the leading U.S. orchestras and has seen professional use at the highest level.
